The establishment’s commitment to community and authenticity shines through in every interaction. Customers often praise the warm, family-like atmosphere fostered by the owners and staff, who bring an approachable, down-to-earth vibe to the dining experience. As one longtime patron, Denzel R, puts it, “You can't go wrong with picking a random item on their menu,” emphasizing the consistently high quality and flavor across the board.
But Hue Cafe & Apothecary is much more than just a restaurant. Its herb shop and wellness center are treasure troves of natural remedies and carefully curated products that enhance well-being. House blends like the Ginger & Turmeric (AntiInflammatory) and Lavender & Peppermint (Chill Pill) teas are signature offerings that highlight the cafe’s holistic approach to health, inviting guests to sip their way to calm, balance, and vitality.
In addition to teas, the apothecary offers an impressive lineup of wellness products including Magnesium Bath Salt, Elderberry Syrup Kit, and specialized cleanses such as Gut Reset and Sleep On It. These items reinforce Hue’s mission to empower guests through herbal medicine and mindful self-care. The ceramic mugs, unique candles, and Satya incense available for purchase provide thoughtful ways to continue the wellness ritual beyond the cafe walls.
Community engagement is at Hue Cafe’s core, whether it’s through their vibrant food truck presence at local events or the genuine connection made with each visitor. Customers frequently share their surprise and delight at how delicious and satisfying plant-based food can be—a common sentiment echoed by Annette Hottenstein who experienced Hue’s catering and recognized it as some of the “best vegan food around.”
In essence, Hue Cafe & Apothecary is an inspiring beacon of wholesome nourishment and healing. It’s a place where innovative vegan cuisine meets the wisdom of herbal traditions, all wrapped within an atmosphere that celebrates authenticity, community, and vitality. Whether you come for the creative, mouthwatering dishes or to explore their thoughtful apothecary offerings, you’ll leave feeling nourished, refreshed, and empowered.
First time checking out Hue’s but I’m always excited when there is a vegan restaurant I can get to easily. Also always here to support black and minority owned businesses. Their decor is very on-brand for a vegan restaurant, lots of green on the walls, plants, herbs and spices in jars when you walk in. The menu is pretty vast (more options than expected). I had heard from others that the wings are very good, so I tried the “honay” lemon pepper wings and they were fantastic. The wings were large (definitely a big enough serving for two people to share), flavorful, very hot (clearly made fresh), and the sauce was excellent. We enjoyed the taco box as well and I really liked the savory greens also (lots of flavor and well spiced also). This is a great option if you are vegan, trying to eat healthier, or just want something different from the other restaurants you’ve been eating at. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and there are lots of options!
Hue Cafe is one of my favorite vegan spots! I remember going to their soft opening craving a good vegan cheesesteak and they did not disappoint! The owners are like family they are so genuine and really down to earth. You can't go wrong with picking a random item on their menu. When I can a taste for a traditional flavorful brunch. I go here with no hesitation!
Had a wonderful experience having the Hue food truck at our work event this past week. The owners (Ejama and Aaron) were super professional and genuinely nice people. Food was fresh and delicious! Many of our employees were surprised with how good plant based food can taste. We had a set menu of 5 items and all were executed perfectly. This is some of the best vegan food around! I highly recommend their food truck or stopping by their physical location in Owing Mills.
We visited when we were in town for a wedding. Atmosphere was welcoming and we appreciated the crew’s enthusiasm for our enthusiasm! We had the cauliflower wings for an appetizer and the Po-boy and mushroom pasta entrees, along with some lavender tea. Portions were generous and flavorful. What a treat! They mentioned they are in the process of renovating the dining space. Seemed to be doing quite a takeout business too. Our only wish was that it was closer to where we live! Thanks Hue Crew!
Wow. So good... I shared a handful of items with my sister and we both really enjoyed the experience. This is probably the best vegan food I've tried, but I also enjoyed the ambiance, and people who worked there. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, and it was bustling, but remained relaxed and pleasant. There was some seating, and there were books, teas, and accessories for sale. The food had lots of flavor, was very fresh and vibrant. Why did I only give 4 stars? The fried items were a little too salty. My sister is salt-sensitive and had to pass on those items. I would have still given 4.5 if I could. We tried black truffle? Mac and cheese (came with fresh scallions on top), brown sugar Buffalo cauliflower wings, chic and fungi, which is fried oyster mushrooms with sweet pickled veggies. The mushrooms came on a delicious bun but I couldn't stop eating them as finger food. We also tried the smoky greens (sweet and smoky!), a curried chicken salad wrap, and some *AMAZING* maple bacon. Full disclosure- I'm not vegan. I know what meat tastes and feels like. The bacon was sooo good I couldn't believe it was vegan, still can't. It was like uncured smoked turkey bacon. Even the fries were good here. We went for food but also left with a custom herbal tea blend and had a lovely conversation with one of the owners, I think. There were so many awesome sounding items on the menu. They even had desserts like banana pudding. I'll definitely go back to try more.
The place and people inside are great they asked was it my first time and I said yes... they are there to help from the website, so I already knew what I wanted to try. Their version of a chicken sandwich did not disappoint, or was extra crispy and delicious, but Fries were everything. The daughter's girl tried the cheese steak, which was ok, only it had a strong aftertaste. We ordered and sat down at a table, then was greeted with a tray of samples. When I say Damn those samples were amazing, the greens geez, the mac and cheese both too die for. Will go again. Go give them a try, you will like them vegan or not.
Stopped by today for the food truck experience. Wanted to support a minority small business and so glad I did. Yum! The fried mushroom sandwich was so good! My daughter and I fought over it! Better and healthier than the chicken sandwiches I have had! Fries great also. Please stop by on the weekend to try this delicious food! Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat eater.....you will love their food!
